Hunter Accounting Merger

 

From 1 July, Cessnock based accounting practice Keirs Carr Chartered Accountants and Maitland firm Gascoigne Consulting will join forces to form Anova Chartered Accountants.

Keirs Carr was formed in 1980 by Stephen Keirs, with James Carr joining as Partner in 2011. Its loyal client base has grown over this time to become one of the largest practices in the Cessnock area.

Amanda Gascoigne launched her own practice, Gascoigne Consulting in 1999, and was joined by her brother Ryan Threlfo as partner in 2013. Gascoigne Consulting has operated from its current Green Hills location from 2006 and in 2014 was awarded Business Services of the Year Award in the Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards.

Both practices specialise in small to medium sized business advisory in addition to individual taxation services. A dedicated self-managed superannuation team including an audit arm will also form part of the service offering of the merged business. “We pride our business on providing honest, reliable advice and quality customer service and early on in our discussions with Ryan and Amanda it became clearly apparent of these shared values”, said Stephen.

“Anova, latin for ‘new’, symbolises the exciting partnership we will form with Gascoigne Consulting”, says James who has been close friends with Ryan from their early school days all the way to starting University together.

Ryan added, “joining forces with Keirs Carr enhances our experience and expertise enabling us to better serve our clients and continue our growth and progression as a practice. Merging our practices will also provide further opportunities to our staff as they progress in their careers, which is critical to our ongoing success and the services we provide”.

As part of the merger, Stephen’s son Peter Keirs will be promoted from Senior Accountant to Partner. As Anova Chartered Accountants, the current Cessnock and Green Hills locations will be maintained with a satellite office in Wickham opened from July.
