The following lists government support available from NSW Government. NSW Trade & Investment works with businesses and communities in regional NSW to help them attract new investment, grow their economies and create local jobs. Jobs Action Plan

One of the NSW Government’s key priorities is to create jobs. The Government’s Jobs Action Plan provides businesses with incentives to hire new workers, with the aim of creating 100,000 new jobs in NSW. This includes 40,000 new jobs in regional areas.

The plan provides NSW businesses with a payroll tax rebate when they employ new workers in new eligible employment. The scheme has been extended by a further 4 years to 30 June 2019 and the rebate increased to $6000 for new jobs created after 31 July 2016. New jobs commencing on or after 31 July 2016, will only be eligible for the rebate if the employers full-time equivalent (FTE) employee number, prior to the new job, is at or below 50.

Jobs for NSW

Jobs for NSW is committed to increasing the number of jobs available in regional and rural NSW through a portfolio of products and services. Regional businesses may apply for any of the grants and support services provided by Jobs for NSW subject to the eligibility requirements of each product. Export Support

NSW Trade & Investment is available to support businesses entering the export market or those seeking to expand their exporting capacity. They can provide a range of export tools and service to take your business from being export-willing to export-ready.

Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund

Funding is available to support the development and growth of regional tourism by investing in critical visitor economy infrastructure such as rail trails, airports and cruise terminals in order to target of doubling overnight visitor stays and expenditure and boosting the visitor economy and regional tourism.

The Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund is administered by Infrastructure NSW with support from NSW Trade & Investment.

Destination NSW funding and support

Various funding streams are available to NSW tourism businesses under schemes to meet the state goal to double overnight visitor expenditure:

  • The Regional Flagship Events Program identifies and supports events in regional NSW that have the potential to act as a ‘cornerstone’ or flagship tourism event for their area by attracting overnight visitation and delivering long term benefits to the region.
  • The Regional Tourism Fund provides matched contributions to destination networks and industry bodies representing regions through the Regional Cooperative Tourism Marketing Program, and matched funding to the tourism industry for enhanced capacity and results driven projects under the Regional Tourism Product Development Program.
