Fuel Check cutting fuel costs

Check out Fuel Check to cut your fuel costs

Fuel prices are predicted to jump in 2018 as a result of oil production cuts by several Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The lower production may see prices rise to $1.40/litre by the end of the year, and up to $1.47/litre by the end of 2018, according to the National Australia Bank.

Fuel can be a high cost commodity for business operators in regional areas such as Cessnock.

Get ahead of fuel costs with a new app released by the NSW Government called Fuel Check. Fuel Check provides business owners with an edge when it comes to your fuel budget.

Fuel Check allows users to enter a suburb name or postcode along with the type and brand of fuel required to obtain the best price available at that time.

The list gives the cheapest fuel and continues on, listing fuel prices down to the most expensive for the postcode.

If fuel isn’t a large overhead for your business, or you regularly source your fuel from the only service station in your area, the app likely won’t have an earthshattering effect on your business costs. However, for residents of larger centres like Cessnock the app can make a real difference to businesses with regular fuel costs.

Differences in fuel costs can be significant. As at writing, the difference between the highest and lowest fuel cost at the bowser is around 15 cents per litre. That’s not to be sniffed at if your business includes mobile services such as dog grooming or lawn mowing, or high fuel usage such as transport and freight.

Fuel Check also provides you with directions from your location to any service station in NSW, and allows you to submit a complaint if the price at the pump doesn’t match the Fuel Check price.

If you have a regular run you can save your favourite service station in the app, and set up alerts telling you when the fuel price drops below a particular threshold. You can also use the ‘My Trip’ feature to locate the lowest priced fuel along a frequent route.
