Good fences make good neighbours, and for Marshall’s Fencing & Welding’s Jarrod Marshall they also make for a great business.

Jarrod and his wife Ashlea moved to Cessnock four years ago and fell in love with the region.  Jarrod says the strong community spirit and supportive small business network gave him the confidence to open his own business two years ago.

“I started as an apprentice boiler maker and went on to subcontract for a large fencing company for a number of years,” says Jarrod.

“I reached a point in my career where I felt like I could do more with my technical expertise and industry experience so I decided to open my own business.”

The three-strong Marshall’s Fencing & Welding team caters for all types of fencing and retaining solutions – from Colorbond and aluminium horizontal slat fences through to treated pine sleeper retaining walls.  As a licenced and insured boilermaker, Jarrod is fully equipped to tackle onsite welding, fabrication jobs and more.

Jarrod says fine workmanship delivered at a competitive price is the ethos of his company.

When looking to the future, Jarrod hopes to manufacture greater success by opening a showroom workshop in the heart of Cessnock.

“We’d like to create a place where customers can come and browse through fencing and gate displays, discuss colour choices and work together with us to find the option that will work best for their needs and budget,” Jarrod says.

“We also want to cater for customers who might just need a weld or repair, so our fabrication shop will be a place for people to drop off their broken gate or fence panel and pick it up later looking as good as new.”
