The NSW Government last week  announced $3.5 million in funding to boost regional economies and create more jobs, across three funding streams.

Applications are now open for the three funding streams: Refresh and Renew Fund, Experience Enhancement Fund, and Regional Business Event Development Fund.

Below is a summary of the funding opportunities available:

Stream 1 – Refresh and Renew Fund

$1 million in funding is available to tourism businesses to refresh and renew their product. Grants of $10,000 (excluding GST) are available for eligible activities.

The funding is available to cafes, bars, restaurants, accredited visitor information centres, hotels, motels, caravan parks, visitor attractions, museums, galleries, conference and event centres or facilities and examples of works may include refurbishment and upgrades to facilities.

Stream 2 – Experience Enhancement Fund

$2 million in Experience Enhancement funding is available. Funding of between $50,000 and $150,000 (excluding GST) is available per applicant, on a matched dollar-for-dollar basis for eligible project costs.

Projects may include the upgrade of existing accommodation to improve their star rating, upgrade business and leisure event venues and facilities, repurpose existing infrastructure to provide new facilities or experiences not currently available within the destination, or to create new tourism attractions or experiences.

Applications are now open and close at 9am on 31 March 2021 for both funding programs.

Stream 3 – Regional Business Event Development Fund

Grants of up to $30,000 are available to create, attract and support business events for regional NSW, and to motivate business event owners to incorporate regional NSW in their plans.

A business event could take the form of a conference, workshop, seminar, training course, incentive and reward program or some other corporate related activity.
