Does your organisation or business hold an annual event in the Cessnock local government area? Have you held it annually for at least the last two years?
If you’ve answered yes to both of these questions read on…
The NSW government, via the statutory authority Destination NSW, offers grant funding to help support the growth of the State’s tourism and events sector in regional NSW with the Regional Flagship Events Program.
The Regional Flagship Events Program identifies and supports events in regional NSW that have the potential to act as cornerstone, or flagship, tourism events for their area.
What are the grants for?
The grants are specifically designed to support the marketing of an event; to increase visibility and attract visitors from outside the local area.
The main emphasis is to attract overnight visitors which will in turn deliver long-term benefits to the region.
The Flagship Event Fund offers two grants:
- Annual grants of $20,000 (excl. GST).
- Triennial grants of $27,500 (excl. GST) plus an additional $2,500 (ex.GST)
value-in-kind research services per year for three years.
The funding timeframes
From 2019 grants in the Flagship Event Fund will be allocated in two rounds:
■ Round One – for events in January to June 2019 (open now – closing Oct 8 2018).
■ Round Two – for events in July to December 2019 (opens in Feb 2019).
To apply, applicants must complete the online application form.
To be competitive you need to be able to show how you will attract visitors to the area for your event and importantly how you will evaluate visitor numbers.
