Business Profile

General Interest

The Australian Alpaca Barn specializes in the sale and promotion of the best quality Alpaca products.  Alpaca is a fabulous fibre, it is known for being soft, lightweight and warm.

Alpaca is hollow, with air pockets along the shaft of the fibre, making it not only very insulating and lightweight, but also allows it to breathe.

“What many people love about good quality Alpaca is that it doesn’t itch”, says business owner, Marion Jack.

“What sets The Australian Alpaca Barn apart is that we not only sells the best quality finished products, we are also involved in growing the fibre”.

Five kilometres up a mountain in the beautiful area of Lambs Valley, the owners of Australian Alpaca Barn also have an Alpaca Farm, Jacamar Alpacas.  They purchased their first herd of 10 Alpacas in 1997, and since then their herd has grown to almost 100.

The Australian Alpaca Barn opened its first store in Morpeth approximately 12 years ago and since then have grown to include two outlets amongst the beautiful Pokolbin wineries located at Peppers Creek Shopping Village and Hunter Valley Gardens Shopping Village.  They also have a fourth store in the Historic Rocks area in Sydney.

Originally established to sell and promote Australian Alpaca products made from alpaca fiber grown in Australia, the Australian Alpaca Barn have grown with the industry to now specialise in the sale and promotion of quality alpaca products manufactured in Australia, New Zealand and Peru. They have aligned themselves with the top manufacturers in Peru to offer a comprehensive range of alpaca products, fashion and accessories that are luxuriously soft, amazingly warm and lightweight.

“We get great support from the local community, we love seeing our regular customers who come to find something special for themselves or something a little different for a gift”, says Marion.   Also being so close to Sydney, the area gets a lot of tourist traffic, either from Sydneysiders on a weekend away, or others on holiday from further afield.

Australian Alpaca Barn is a family run business, providing employment for locals.  We intend to continue to grow with the Alpaca Industry as it develops within Australia.

The Australian Alpaca Barn can be found in two locations in Cessnock Council area, with opening hours from 10am to 5pm.
