Business Profile

The Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) is housed in the iconic building on the corner of Aberdare Road and Vincent Street, Cessnock.

The white paint and raw red brick of early 20th Century architecture seamlessly flows into the sleek lines of the modern additions. CPAC is the result of the adaptive re-use of two existing buildings.

It has been designed using contemporary materials and finishes that subtly contrast with the older buildings. The entire complex totals some 2,000 square metres.

Since opening on November 22, 2008 the centre has built a regular audience for concerts and plays here in Cessnock.

Each year the team strives to provide wonderful live entertainment experiences. And provide both Australian and international theatre productions.

The performances range from dance and live music, to the cream of the comedy crop. The CPAC team pride themselves on providing something for everyone.

The scene was set for a great 2019 season by winning the 2018 Hunter Region Business Excellence Award for customer service.

Patrons and performers alike choose to dine in one of the many fantastic restaurants found in the local area prior to a performance.

CPAC also hosts the Hunter Drama’s weekly drama classes for young people from the area. This has culminated in a number of performances throughout the year. And showcase the talent on offer within our backyard. The annual highlight is a major performance during the school holidays. This year’s extravaganza is the Dreamworks’ favourite Madagascar.

Audiences have a broad range of performances on offer throughout the year, without the need to travel to Newcastle and Sydney.

Their auditorium is spacious enough to accommodate large scale productions, while still allowing for an intimate live experience.

The staff at CPAC are consistently on the lookout for new and innovative performance works.

Staff of CPAC

Wherever possible the CPAC staff look to local businesses for all their catering, uniforms, printing, and other operational requirements.

The centre is always interested in forming partnership opportunities with local businesses and organisations.
