The Mine Shaft Restaurant provides award winning service, a whole-food menu and delicious deserts, coupled with local organic wines (wine list soon to be expanded) and the option to bring your own wine.
Opening just over two years ago, The Mine Shaft Restaurant also offers off-site catering for local businesses and private functions.
“We recently started supplying custom grazing platters for parties, Christmas and or Wednesday nights. There is no restriction”, says owner, Jonathan Rigby.
“Our customer service and overall menu, position and venue has recently being recognised, winning the Hunter Region Business Excellence Award for ‘Best New Business 2017’.
“We pride ourselves on our service and the level of freshness of our food, maintaining in-house made products, so we can offer products to customers with dietary and allergy needs, as well as sourcing local ingredients, supporting local business and economics.
“Owning a small business can be tough, owning a small business in Cessnock is darn hard! In saying that, the area is growing at a great rate, and it is exciting to see the town I grew up in expand and develop as the next generation of small business owners come through.
Networking and the wider sense of community is strong in the area, which shows with the coming together of the local businesses to pledge together for the tourism advertising campaign.
“The future of The Mine Shaft Restaurant is an exciting one, with the soon to be opened ‘West End Flicks’, in our onsite theatrette. Showing old favourite films, and with continued support from the locals and tourists alike, we should be able to offer comedy acts and named solo artists. We hope to joint venture with local wineries and brewery’s in order to expand to wine and beer appreciation nights with onsite tastings and entertainment. To rejuvenate the night life around Cessnock”, says Jonathan.
