Mount Yengo Woodworks, operating since 1989, produce high quality furnishings. Proprietor Gilou Faugere is a cabinet maker, and over the last 25 years Gilou has manufactured one of a kind bar-tops and astounding tables for various wineries in the Hunter Valley region.

Gilou’s unique personal style as a designer of hand-crafted furnishings, mostly made with local sourced timbers, can be seen in a variety of local businesses including ‘Ivanhoe Wines’, ‘Tatler Wines’ and ‘Vinden Estate Winery and Vineyard’, to name a few.

Gilou has also furbished hotels and restaurants in Sydney including ‘The Rose Hotel’ in Chippendale and ‘Brasserie Bakery’ in Port Botany.

The diversity of clientele in the region, as well as the diversity of the creative products provide inspiration for Gilou, “In the last few months I was asked to produce innovative table wares in timber such as plates, trays, food bowls, even sets of chop sticks!” Gilou said.

Gilou’s interest and skills also extend to his family-inherited green-fingers.

“I do have two acres under gardens and grow rare species of heirloom vegetables that I regularly sell to various well established restaurant in the Hunter Valley such as ‘The Muse’, and ‘EXP Restaurant’ in Pokolbin,” says Gilou.

“I am now directing myself towards sculpting.”
