A holiday haven became a life-changing business adventure for Sharon and Ken Blackett five years ago after they became the owners of Sovereign Hill Country Lodge.

The Blacketts had stayed at the lodge a number of times and when it came on the market they jumped at the opportunity to buy it.

Nestled in pristine Hunter Valley wine country, Sovereign Hill Country Lodge offers a range of well-appointed accommodation on a working vineyard.

It’s a mix that draws guests back time and again according to Sharon and Ken.

“We have accommodation, a cellar door and wine tastings and sales all on site.

“We have wonderful views in a quiet location.  Our guests appreciate the relaxing atmosphere as well as activities like the tennis court and pool.

“We are renovating the property and accommodation; it’s great to hear from return guests as they notice our changes each time they come back.”

Since taking over Sovereign Hill Country Lodge Sharon and Ken have both completed a Vigneron and Grape Growing Course, and are helped out in the winery by long-time friend Adrian Sheridan who they say is one of the best wine makers in the region.

The Blacketts say Lovedale is a great place to do business.

“Lovedale is a supportive community.  The chamber has a connection with the council and everyone works together to achieve results.”

Sharon and Ken welcome guests to stop by and taste their selection of fine wines, and look forward to hosting guests overnight.
