General Interest

The Wine Country Tourist Park is a small friendly park on the doorstep of the vineyards offering clean and tidy amenities including camp kitchen and swimming pool for campers, caravaners and motorhomes.

“We are delighted to be the new owners of the Wine Country Tourist Park, returning it to family ownership rather than being owned by a big corporation” says Meriki Barnes (the park was formerly Active Holidays Cessnock Wine Country).

The park also specialises in hosting ‘caravan clubs’ from around the state who wish to visit and experience all the Hunter Valley region has to offer.

You can also bring along your pets, as this is a pet friendly park.

“We provide budget accommodation allowing our guests to perhaps spend a little more on their entertainment, food and drinks whilst staying in the area,” says Meriki.

“Charna and Phil are your awesome and super friendly hosts when you come to stay at Wine Country Tourist Park. They are very knowledgeable about the area and the local attractions, and always willing to help cater for your needs whilst you stay in the park”.

Meriki said A very warm welcome to the area has been extended to them, which she said is an indicator of the friendliness of the people who live here.

“The staff at the Hunter Valley Visitor’s Centre are brilliant – very friendly and helpful, Meriki said”

“We also enjoy making links with other businesses in the area by providing our guests with small discounts at participating venues including wineries, coffee shops and experience vendors. It is a very supportive business community.”

Caravan and camping holiday makers are an important part of the tourism sector. The numbers of people visiting caravan parks each year is growing for both the family market and those who are heading out to explore when retired.

Meriki stated that they hope to upgrade their facilities (camp kitchen and amenities block) this year to provide a more updated look and feel for the park.

“We know the people of Cessnock and surrounds love having their camping and caravanning relatives come to stay – but why not let us look after them ;-)!”
