Cessnock Leagues Club have organised a community event for International Women’s Day.
The International Women’s Day Charity Dinner is being held on Thursday, 5th March 2020 and you are warmly invited to attend the event and get involved.
The event will provide an evening of entertainment and speakers being interviewed; covering topics of this year’s theme “Each for Equal”.
Cessnock Councillor, Cr Anothony Burke will MC the evening which will commence at 6.30pm with local, up and coming songstress, Trinity Woodhouse, performing.
Speakers who will be interviewed are:
- Melissa Histon – CEO/Founder of Got Your Back Sista
- Tara Naysmith – Country Music Singer

- Ellena Morris – Special Olympic Swimming Coach
- Crystal Duncan – General Manager of “Miruma” Cessnock Correctional Centre
To end this evening on a light note, female comedian Emma Zammit, will have you laughing your way home.
This event will confront issues that touch our community near and far that may be your wife, daughter, sister, niece, mother… and we need your help.
There will be raffle held on the night to assist with raising money that we would encourage you to donate.
Alternatively, we are organising care packages that will be assembled and given to Carrie’s Place and Jodie’s Place; domestic violence shelters in Cessnock and Maitland. These are to contain emergency personal care and essential items; if you are unable to donate any of these incidentals we will be accepting gift cards to purchase them with.
Tickets are $65.00 each and include a two course meal. Tickets can be purchased from www.cessnockleagues.com.au with tables of 10 available.
$10.00 from each ticket will go to “Got Your Back Sista”. The ‘Got Your Back Sista” charity is a registered arm of the “Sister Code” movement offering support and refuge for women and children ‘escaping the trauma of domestic violence.
