Cessnock businesses have shown incredible dedication to their customers in 2020, adapting and changing their practices to fit the challenges of COVID restrictions while still offering top customer service to the community. In recognition of these qualities, the Cessnock Customer Service Awards are returning in 2020 for their 11th year since revival in 2010. In a different format to normal, the Awards will be run as a virtual event broadcasting from the Cessnock Leagues Club on 4 December 2020.

The Awards, run by the Cessnock Chamber of Commerce, have been expanded this year to recognise a larger range of businesses on offer in our LGA. Instead of the usual 7 awards, categories have been split up into approximately 18 sub-categories with 5 overall awards being awarded to the best performing people in the professional, retail, tourism and hospitality, trades and training, and community and wellbeing sections as decided the awards judging panel. The final award of the night, the “Cessnock Chamber of Commerce Excellence Award”, will be awarded to a nominee who the Chamber committee feels best reflects a true ambassador of exceptional customer service.

This year more than ever, the committee believes it is crucial to recognise as many businesses as possible. Our region has endured more than most recently, with drought, bushfires, floods and the ongoing effects of COVID-19. The restructuring of the awards aims to help re-boost the profiles of those most heavily affected. Cessnock Chamber President, Mr Clint Ekert, says he hopes that “the community take the time to acknowledge a positive customer service experience they have had, and return the favour” by nominating those businesses and people.

With nominations extended to 5pm Sunday 1st November, now is the time to nominate someone who has gone the extra mile for you. Simply visit cessnockchamber.com.au to nominate and go in the running to win $100 in Cessnock Dollars.

To join in on the celebration, you can also register to attend the virtual awards night at 6:30pm on 4 December for free by visiting cessnockchamber.com.au. The Chamber of Commerce hopes that attendees will support local businesses by purchasing decorations, outfits, food and drinks locally.
