FROM THE CHAMBERS
Calling all artists – entries are now open for adult, youth and junior categories in the annual Town of Murals Art Show.
Thanks to the many generous sponsors, prize money is offered in all sections. The major $2000 prize is sponsored by Cessnock City Council.
Attracting hundreds of artists each year, the competition is strong and the standard of entries exceptional. Last year, a popular Schools Section was added, with a cash prize awarded to the school with the most community votes.
This year’s Art Show will coincide with Craft Affair, a digital display of some of the photographs depicting local people and places, which were taken by local photographer Alexander Galloway and were lost for close to 90 years. Craft Affair is coordinated by Kurri Kurri Rotary Sunrise and Galloway’s Treasures. One entry fee enables entry to all three venues plus free tea and coffee.
The show will be open from Thursday, 10 October to Sunday, 13 September 2019 at the Catholic Church Hall, Barton Street, Kurri Kurri. The opening ceremony and prize presentation will be at 6.30pm on Thursday, 10 October 2019.
