The next network event is:
Tuesday 30 April 6pm,
at Weston Workers Club.
The guest speakers
Karinda Stone from Cessnock City Council and Mick Roderick from BLA who will explain their joint project with Birdlife Australia (BLA) called “Our Bushland”. Their presentation will outline how businesses can engage with the project, which seeks to develop a niche market around nature tourism in the area.
Potential for Eco Tourism?
Many people are not aware but the Cessnock Local Government Area is recognised as a Key Biodiversity Area as the local bushland supports a huge number of endangered species and endangered ecological communities. This provides us with a very unique opportunity to create a tourism niche market (e.g. bird watching, bush walking and nature photography etc.).
We have the existing tourism infrastructure with accommodation and other local tourism activities such as the wineries and ballooning etc. so we just need to explore how we incorporate the nature tourism side of things.
