Excellence and Success

In its 25th year, they are the longest running awards in the Hunter. They showcase the region’s businesses that provide outstanding products and services, and are achieving excellence and success.

They have become an important symbol of success, one which local businesses aspire to receive.

For some businesses, especially those just starting out, a win in these awards delivers marketplace respect, often cementing their place as a legitimate enterprise.

The selection process is rigorous with each nominee having to complete what is essentially a business plan. Applications are then assessed by a team of judges. In addition candidates also received a visit or phone call from a mystery shopper judge who evaluates the customer experience.

The applicants are judged on customer service, knowledge, presentation of personnel and premises, and the effectiveness of the website.

Ms Hallett from the Hunter Region Business HUB said. “This is not a popularity contest, winners are chosen based on their business credentials.”
