Does your business use more than 1000GJ of gas each year? In monetary terms, 1000GJ of gas works out to be about $30,000!
Being a sustainable business is about more than just being green. Reducing your impacts on the environment can help your business save money, become more resilient and productive and give you a distinct competitive advantage in a market who values efficiency more than ever.
The Environmental Protection Authority’s (EPA) 2015 NSW state of the environment report provides that gas consumption has been fairly consistent in NSW over the past five years, with manufacturing and electricity generation using the most gas.
Funding to achieve savings
If rising gas prices have been placing undue pressure on your business, consider applying for Gas Efficiency Funding. The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage wants to help you implement both energy savings and cost savings!
Run and check your bills, as these are the following criteria for your business to be eligible to apply for a gas efficiency project:
- NSW based site
- Annual gas usage over 1000GJ (approximately $30,000 per annum)
- Target fuel type is reticulated natural gas (mains gas), however LPG and other gas variants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The program provides direct grant funding to sites to implement gas monitoring and efficiency projects. Applications are being accepted for up to total of $40,000 split over two stages. Applicants must match funding of up to $15,000 for stage 1 (gas measurement and monitoring) and up to $25,000 stage 2 (gas efficiency works).
