This Sunday the Cessnock CBD will come alive with family fun and entertainment at the first Cessnock STOMP Festival.
From 10am to 4pm, Vincent Street between Hall Street and Wollombi Road will be packed with more than 100 market stalls, 30 wineries, breweries and food from some of the best restaurants in the Hunter Valley.
Cessnock Chamber of Commerce President Geoff Walker said there had been a great response to the new festival and excitement was building.
“It’s been a few years since Cessnock had a civic festival of this scale,” Mr Walker said.
“The Chamber has tried to plan a festival that has something for everybody, with a mix of free and paid activities, and it has really resonated with our community.
“We also want to make sure the festival celebrates not only the heritage of our region as a premier food and wine destination, but also showcases the diversity of businesses and products which is why it’s wonderful we will have such a vibrant market atmosphere on the day.”
Mr Walker said he expected the festival would draw visitors from beyond the city limits.
“We have had great interest and engagement on social media where we have been running competitions and giveaways,” Mr Walker said.
“Tickets to the grape stomp have already sold out, and the Meet the Wine Makers Breakfast and High Tea with the Mad Hatter are selling fast.”
Other highlights of the festival will include:
- Animals from the Hunter Valley Zoo
- Bubble Lane, a celebration of all things bubbly
- Beer Haven, for those who prefer hops over grapes
- A fashion parade featuring designs from local boutiques
- Art activities for the kids
