Thousands of people packed Vincent Street on Sunday to check out the fun and excitement of the first ever Cessnock STOMP Festival.

Judging by the sea of happy faces, they weren’t disappointed!

The rain held out long enough for the Great Cessnock Stomp Champion to be crowned and for festival goers to sample the best food and wine on offer in the Hunter.

Bubble Lane and Beer Haven proved very popular with the grownups, and the range of activities on offer for the kids rounded out a fantastic festival program.

Perform-Ability put on a cracker of a dance show, while local fashion retailers gave us all some sartorial inspiration with some hot off the catwalk looks.

Council’s Economic Development Manager Jane Holdsworth said a festival like Stomp had the potential to inject substantial dollars into the local economy.

“A weekend like the one just past where we had a massive concert and then a successful festival is excellent for driving economic growth,” Ms Holdsworth said.

“We are yet to complete the full analysis, but we would expect the value to be in the millions.”
