Council collaborated with Hunter Valley Wildlife Park to develop the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park Community Day. This special annual day was designed to be a fun event for everyone – especially Hunter locals to come back to the wildlife park and check out how much the park has expanded and been enhanced over the last few years.
The Hunter Valley Wildlife Park Community Day provides the opportunity for a great and affordable experience with the family.
This event is just one example of the many incredible tourism and community events that our local government area proudly hosts throughout the year. Council will continue to nurture and support these initiatives, as they not only enrich the lives of our residents but also contribute significantly to the economic growth and prosperity of our region.
Reduced entry fees were charged and 100 free tickets were given away to those people in our community with disability and their carers.

Boosting a number of small local business suppliers and musicians, this grant was awarded to produce and run a 30 second and 15 second corporate tv commercial in the local area on two stations to promote the live music event offerings at Qirkz in the Hunter.

Plan Your Event Hunter was a concept created by local business, Powerful Perceptions, to help tourism operators boost their mid-week bookings and achieve higher value visitation by attracting group events to the Hunter Valley.
The platform currently hosts around 100 vendors and has resulted in significant functions booking in the Cessnock LGA, utilising the services of local businesses and suppliers.
Cessnock City Council’s Economic development department assisted Plan Your Event Hunter in getting off the ground with a funding grant of $8,000, support in the form of introductions to interested local businesses, and assistance with professional photography for the website which were shared with all the businesses involved. This collaborative approach far extended the value delivered to the local business community.
