Business Profile

There’s a new bike shop in Vincent St, Cessnock. It only opened last week and it stocks more than just the usual. Owner Steve Whitby is passionate about bikes. He’s a collector and restorer of classic and vintage bikes, and he wants to bring all types of cycling experiences to the Cessnock area.

Steve stocks quality bikes for both hire and sale, plus a large range of accessories. He also stocks an indoor cycle training system, a virtual reality, cloud based system, that lets you ride and train indoors. But forget about the old style stationary bike, this one links up to a screen and lets you cycle around different bike tracks and roads around the world. When the program climbs a hill, so do you. You can also challenge other people, either in the same room or across the world, to a bike race. And you can be hooked up to a heart monitor, in order to monitor your efforts and progress.

Steve’s ambition is to start up social bike riding groups for all ages and road types. So if you prefer road riding, mountain bike trails or riding on gravel roads, there will be a group for you. He will also have a group for women only. Go to the Facebook page for more details and a calendar of events.

Cessnock Bicycle Company will also be the place to hire quality bikes, and Steve has plans to ramp up cycling tourism in the area. Again, access the Facebook page in the coming months or drop by the shop and have a chat.
