Cessnock City Council's Economic Development Unit has extensive local business knowledge. Members of the Economic Development team have run small and medium businesses within our region and worked in large corporations.

Our aim is to provide personalised support to increase opportunities for local businesses, increase exposure to our beautiful region for investment, and advocate for issues affecting socio-economic performance. We’re available to help with free advice and support.

Tips on a great profile:

Be sure to include information on your business’s strengths, and what sets you apart from your competitors. Anything that will help people build credibility with you is helpful, so list any special qualifications, endorsements, and links to media articles. Clearly define what it is that your business does and types of products that you offer. The more info the better!

The Australian Small Business & Family Enterprise Ombudsman is a government service which can help with financial direction, dispute resolution, tax concierge, policy insights, disaster preparation and recovery, and mental health support.

The Small Business Debt Helpline

The Small Business Debt Helpline can help you make a plan to manage your business and personal debts. They can also help you in finding government grants that are suitable for your business and provide disaster relief support. Their advice is free, confidential and independent.

New Access for Small Business Owners

Beyond Blue’s guided self-help mental health coaching program is free, confidential and convenient. Available nationally by phone or video call, no GP referral is required.
