Support Local Competition
Support Local is an initiative of Advance Greater Cessnock in partnership with local Chambers and Associations establishing greater support and promotion of local businesses within the community.
Locals supporting locals is all about working together. It’s about shopping and buying local; as well as hiring local talent – it’s about keeping doors open! When we support local, every member of the community gets to enjoy the economic, social and environmental benefits; not just now, but well into the future.
To ensure the success of the campaign we need YOU, our community to work collectively with Advance Greater Cessnock and partners to bring about change!
Our Support Local Competition gives away $5,000 in prizes yearly. Each month we have a brand new competition, past examples include:
- Win 2 adults balloon flights with champagne breakfast and photo package valued at $458 - to win this amazing prize tell us where you get your morning coffee or love to stop for brunch in the Cessnock LGA.
- Win a 2 night staycation valued at $500 - tell us your favourite accommodation business or somewhere you would LOVE to stay in the Hunter Valley in 25 words.
- Win 1 of 5 Gift vouchers for 18 holes of Golf at Cypress Lakes valued at $95 each - tell us your favourite Hunter Valley winery, brewery or distillery.
- Win A $100 Gift Voucher - give a Shoutout in 25 words to a “Trusted Tradie” in the Greater Cessnock area (including Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Branxton, Wine Country and Wollombi Valley.
NOVEMBER + DECEMBER 2024 Competition
BUSINESS CHRISTMAS DISPLAY
Decorate your business for Christmas to win a $500 Gift Card and Trophy.
With the festive season just around the corner, Cessnock City Council invites local businesses and shoppers to embrace the Christmas spirit.
Local businesses across the Cessnock LGA are encouraged to transform their shopfronts with festive decorations and eye-catching displays. Prizes will be awarded to the top three displays:
1st Prize: $500 gift card and trophy
2nd Prize: $300 gift card and trophy
3rd Prize: $200 gift card and trophy
Winners will be determined by Mayor Watton on Friday 13 December, 2024.
To participate:
To participate in the Christmas Business Display, businesses must
register by emailing economic.development@cessnock.nsw.gov.au with their business name and address. Entries are now open!
Terms and Conditions:
- One (1) winner will receive one (1) $500 Gift Card and Trophy. One (1) winner will receive one (1) $300 Gift Card and Trophy. One (1) winner will receive one (1) $200 Gift Card and Trophy.
- The competition commences at 9:00am AEST on 01 November 2024 and closes at 9.00am AEST on 13 December 2024 (the “Promotion Period”).
- Once notified, Winners prizes can be collected from the Cessnock City Council Customer Service desk 62-78 Vincent St Cessnock with proof of identification required.

SHOPPER SELFIE COMPETITION
Take a selfie at a Local Christmas Display for your chance to win!
This year, we’re inviting local shoppers to join in the festive cheer! Visit any local business with a Christmas display, take a selfie or photo, and post it to social media with the hashtag #SupportLocalCessnock. Don’t Forget to tag the business you visited!
This is your chance to show support for local businesses and win exciting prizes:
1st Prize: $200 gift card
2nd Prize: $100 gift card
3rd Prize: $50 gift card
Competition closes 5pm 13 December, 2024. Winners will be announced on the Advance Greater Cessnock social media
channels.
To win one of the three prizes: Visit one of our Christmas Business Displays!
1. Visit a Business Christmas Display in the Cessnock LGA including (Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Branxton, Wine Country and the Wollombi Valley).
2. Post a selfie or photo of the display to Facebook or Instagram
3. Tag the business
