Filming Approvals

The Cessnock LGA is a great filming location.

With so many picturesque rural scenes in the Hunter Valley, it lends itself to being the perfect backdrop for a wide variety of filming needs.

The logistical advantages of affordable accommodation, less traffic and proximity to Sydney and Newcastle for talent, make it a clear winner for a filming location for many types of projects.

This video quickly takes you through what is involved in applying for a filming license and when one is needed.

No license is required for:
  • Still photography
  • Wedding videography
  • News filming
  • Filming on private property (with permission)
  • Events (if the video is for the event participants)

For anything else, a license is required and should be lodged 21 days before your first shoot day at a minimum.

This video will help you understand what is required to lodge the application.
