CAROLINE BOOTH

Economic Development and Tourism Manager

Caroline Booth brings over two decades of experience in local government, specialising in economic development, destination marketing, and investment attraction. As Cessnock City Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Manager, Caroline leads strategic initiatives to stimulate sustainable growth, encourage innovation, and attract investment that enhances the liveability and economic vitality of the region.

Caroline’s deep understanding of local and regional economies is backed by a career dedicated to fostering collaborative partnerships and creating new opportunities for business, employment, education, and tourism. Her work spans across Sutherland Shire and the Hunter, including significant contributions in Maitland and Newcastle. During her six years as Tourism Marketing Officer for the City of Newcastle, Caroline was instrumental in elevating the city’s tourism profile, earning multiple regional and state awards. Notably, she received the Wendy O’Donohue Young Achiever in Tourism Award in 2005, following her recognition at the Hunter Region Tourism Awards.

With formal training in foreign direct investment attraction, Caroline also brings a global perspective to her role. She is passionate about positioning Cessnock and the wider Hunter Valley as a competitive and compelling destination for investors, visitors, and residents alike.

BRAD SANGSTER

Economic Development Officer

Brad Sangster is a dedicated and seasoned Economic Development Officer with over a decade of experience in the field. With a deep passion for fostering economic growth and community development, Brad is a valuable asset to the team and the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA).

Throughout his extensive career, Brad has consistently demonstrated his commitment to enhancing the economic landscape of Cessnock LGA. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, making him a reliable and trusted member of the team. Brad has managed a diverse range of projects, which have helped drive local economic development with successful outcomes across various sectors.

Brad’s work extends beyond traditional economic development projects. He has played a vital role in collaborating with local businesses through the various chambers of commerce, ensuring that their needs are met and opportunities for growth are maximised. By building strong relationships and fostering a cooperative environment, Brad has been instrumental in supporting the local business community.

In addition, Brad has been deeply involved in the planning and delivery of events designed to drive visitation and increase local spending. By focusing on events that attract both visitors and residents, he has helped stimulate economic activity, create jobs, and elevate the profile of Cessnock as a vibrant and attractive destination.

CHRISSY GRAINGER

Economic Development Officer

Chrissy Grainger is centred on fostering relationships with local stakeholders and helping businesses thrive. She plays a key role in coordinating the eNewsletter, which connects businesses with relevant information, updates, and opportunities.

Additionally, Chrissy is working to build capacity, skills and resilience through workshops and events that equip local businesses with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to succeed. She also actively supports local businesses in navigating grants and sponsorships, helping them secure the funding and resources they need to expand and innovate.

Her background in running a small business allows Chrissy to offer valuable, on-the-ground insights that help businesses adapt to changing circumstances while fostering long-term growth. Whether through engagement, strategic support, or targeted events, Chrissy is dedicated to strengthening the local business community.

Outside of her professional work, Chrissy enjoys exploring the beautiful Cessnock LGA and is a committed advocate for community projects. With her blend of expertise and local pride, Chrissy continues to make a lasting impact on the region, helping to shape a thriving, sustainable future for Cessnock.

Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre

Our economic development and tourism team also includes the staff of the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre.

Our visitor centre staff adore our region and love providing first class visitor services to both holiday makers and locals.

The dedicated team can help provide inspiration in planning a trip, book accommodation and experiences and make personalised recommendations.
