Asbestos awareness and safety
April 2 @ 8:00 am - June 13 @ 11:30 pm
Asbestos awareness training educates about a mineral once prevalent in over 3000 building products until its 2004 ban, yet still exists in one-third of Australian homes.
Disturbing asbestos releases fibres that, when inhaled, can lead to fatal diseases like asbestosis, mesothelioma, and lung cancer, causing approximately 4000 Australian deaths annually. Unsafe practices risk not only workers but also others exposed.
This course equips participants to:
- understand asbestos risks and impacts
- recognise roles, responsibilities, and legislation related to asbestos work
- detect potential asbestos materials
- pinpoint hazardous activities causing exposure
- devise control measures
- handle asbestos safely
- inspect sites and communicate risks effectively.
Targeting NSW construction tradespeople, renovators, and handypersons, this training meets legal requirements for employers to provide asbestos awareness. Additional training is necessary for licensed asbestos removal, covering over 10sqm of non-friable or any friable asbestos.
This course is available fully discounted until June 13th 2024.
