Cessnock City Council's Economic Development Unit has extensive local business knowledge, have run small and medium businesses and worked in large corporations. Our aim is to provide personalised support to increase opportunities for local businesses, increase exposure to our beautiful region for investment and advocate for issues affecting socio-economic performance.

The Business Centre

Receive assistance in starting or expanding your business by discussing new ideas, creating clarity and direction. Let our team guide you through the range of programs and services offered to small business owners in the greater Hunter Region. Fully and partially subsidised services are available to suit your individual needs, based on your industry sector, stage of business growth and personal skillsets. Small Business Advisors and Mentors offer practical solutions, guidance and direction to support you in achieving business growth and sustainability. Meet the business advisors at your premises or casually for a coffee to discuss your business needs.

Hunter Valley Hub

Business advisory services cover the establishment of new small business enterprises and existing small to medium enterprises who are experiencing issues, want to grow, or just want to be better. Businesses can also take advantage of numerous business workshops and information seminars to assist in the development of their business.

They facilitate networking events and opportunities to encourage the growth and support of the business community in the Maitland, Cessnock, Dungog , Singleton, Muswellbrook and Upper Hunter local government areas.

Business Connect advisors are experienced professionals who provide confidential advice independently from the NSW Government.

Advisors have experience running a small business themselves with a formal qualification in a business-related discipline. Our accredited advisors have management, consulting or prior advisory experience giving business advice with a broad range of skills covering essential business topics.
