Our Village CoWork Space opened their doors a month ago in Edward St, Cessnock. Coworking is where people who don’t have or need a permanent office space can hire desk space, an office or meeting room on an ad hoc or ongoing basis. They can also cater to people with mobile or home-based business to help break the isolation and distraction of the home office.
Our Village CoWork Space they offer hot desks, semi private offices, project areas and a meeting room that holds up to six people.
The rooms are available for flexible, casual and ongoing use by start-ups, entrepreneurs and freelancers. They can also be used by businesses, community groups, services and programs.
As part of a larger community project, they also offer Giving Space, which is the use of an office, work space or meeting room for groups/projects/programs without funding or who are just starting up. Giving Space is an idea that they hope will attract donations and sponsors within the business community.
And for someone who is seeking a meeting space larger than CoWork Space can accommodate, they are compiling a database of local resources and can suggest alternative venues that may suit your needs.
Our Village Project
Our Village CoWork Space is part of the Our Village Project which explores how to grow, diversify and strengthen our communities through practical and sustainable means.
They see communication, connectivity and collaboration as being central themes to all aspects of the Our Village Project.
In six months they hope to have a “how to” guide for setting up coworking spaces in rural and regional Australia.
They’re looking forward to trialing various industries in shared work spaces – including light industrial, trade craft, retail and hospitality.
“It’s remarkable” says Melanie Albert, CoWork Space Coordinator, “how many differing businesses can work in a complementary fashion to enrich, diversify and grow a town and community”.
