Joyce Upson Makeup Artistry

Mobile makeup maven Joyce Upson is a multi-tasking stylist intent upon beautifying Cessnock one client at a time.

Joyce first picked up a professional makeup brush six years ago at the Beauty Therapy College of Australia and says she knew in an instant she had found her life’s passion.

Truly client-focused, Joyce says part of delivering great service is making sure she keeps up with makeup industry innovations.

“I believe in giving my clients 100 per cent and am always expanding my knowledge to keep up with the new trends and makeup looks,” she says.

“I think it’s important to balance my passion and creativity with professional and technical knowledge which is why I have completed a Certificate Four in Makeup as well as a Diploma in Specialist Makeup Services.

“My clients can have confidence that they are in the hands of a trained and accredited professional makeup artist.”

Joyce’s attention to quality extends to her products; she only uses high-end makeup on her clients, favouring local brand Napoleon and international cult classic MAC Cosmetics.

In addition to makeup, Joyce also offers basic hair styling and spray tans.  She offers the flexibility of a mobile service, or for those who’d like to get out of the house and make a day of it she can take appointments at her home studio.

Proudly local, Joyce says she’d like to grow her business by collaborating with other talented local businesses.

“I grew up in Cessnock and I know the area very well,” she says.

“My local knowledge is quite helpful, particularly for brides-to-be.  I know all the spots to get those great photos and through my industry networks I can recommend different vendors that I know will make sure my clients get hitched without a hitch!”

Although a natural bridal makeup specialist, Joyce’s talents don’t end there.  She can transform clients for any occasion including school formals, photoshoots, or just a special night out.  Regardless of the occasion, clients can rest assured they are in Joyce’s caring and capable hands.
