Local business woman Raeshel Phelps knows more than most about turning a challenge into an opportunity.AplusCare4all

Rae’s business, Aplus Care4All, provides support services to people with physical and intellectual disabilities both in the home and the community.

Rae has drawn upon her own experience of living with dyslexia, as well as raising two children with disabilities, to ensure she delivers her clients sensitive and appropriate service.

“Aplus Care4All has an important role in making sure people with disabilities are empowered to live their best lives and experience personal growth,” Rae says.

“I know from personal experience that a disability does not have to be limiting.  With the right support and the right opportunities, anything is possible.”

In just 14 short months Rae has grown her business to employ one full time and 21 casual staff, all while completing a Certificate 4 in Small Business Management.  She’s even embarked upon tertiary study to strengthen her qualifications in the disability field.

A testament to Rae’s dedication, Aplus Care4All won the prestigious Best New Business award at the National NEIS Association Awards in Melbourne earlier this month.

Her win tops off a stellar couple of months; Aplus Care4All also took out the gong for NEIS Business of the Year at the Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards in September.

As for the future, Rae’s not slowing down any time soon.  Aplus Care4All recently purchased a large house which will further expand the business by enabling Rae to offer respite care to her clients.

When she’s not busy building her business, Rae volunteers as a Scout leader.  She’s known for her generosity with her time and knowledge, and has happily assisted other people interested in establishing disability respite services in the area.
